Medical Department, Peren organised World Tuberculosis (TB) Day cum launching of Parimal Swasthya (Nagaland) at CHC Jalukie on 24th March 2022 under the theme “Invest to end TB, Save lives”. 

Speaking on the occasion as the Guest of Honour, EAC Ngwalwa, Tsenthungo E. Ngullie said tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious or bacterial air-borne disease which mainly affects the lungs. He said that the first step and the best weapon to eradicate this disease is to spread awareness among the community and to take preventive treatment. He later flagged off the campaign.

Dr. Vivek (Piramal Swasthya) who is the Zonal Lead for the States of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh in his short speech said Piramal Swasthya Project is a 100 days programme by Central TB Division and Ministry of Tribal Affairs which aims to collect sputum of people from far flung villages and also to stop the spread of TB and COVID-19. He also mentioned that the project is being flagged off from Peren for whole Nagaland and will provide manpower and transportation. Dr. Vivek also highlighted some of the action plans which are to be undertaken during the campaign.

Dy. CMO Peren, Dr. Lanuakum Jamir in his speech said World TB Day is observed every year to create awareness among the public about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and efforts to eliminate the disease. He hoped that with the support of Piramal Swasthya, the elimination programme of TB in Nagaland State would be improved.

Earlier, Pengeidibe chaired the programme, while DTO Peren, Dr. Supongmenla Walling delivered the welcome note and a short testimony was shared by TB Champion Peren, Lunggong.
