State Nodal Officer for Dimapur Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS along with Commissioner of Police, SDO (Civil) Sadar and District Immunization Officer visited Lions Club, Dimapur where vaccination is being conducted since April 13th 2021. The Team was briefed that so far, around 7,000 beneficiaries have been vaccinated at the centre. The Team appreciated and thanked the Lions Club for their infrastructure, manpower, refreshment and logistic support.

The Team proceeded to Bishop's house, Dimapur and visited the Diocese of Kohima COVID-19(DKCTF) Task Force Control Room where the Peace Channel collects information, disseminate, coordinate and process the information and connect with people who are in need of various services. During the interaction with Fr. C.P. Anto, Director of Peace Channel said that DKCTF is carrying out pastoral, Christian and humanitarian services to the people during these trying times. The Task Force is exploring the possibility of financial assistance to the families who have lost their bread winner due to Covid and also exploring of starting two COVID Centres shortly. Fr. C.P. Anto also expressed his happiness saying that that the citizens were hesitant to come forward with assistance at first, however, he appreciated Y. Kikheto Sema, IAS for provoking the minds of the citizens to collectively fight against the pandemic. The team appreciated and thanked DKCTF for their love, compassion and unceasing support extended to the citizens of Dimapur district.

The Team visited proprietors of M/s. Medico, Dimapur, Basu Damani and Arvind Damani and appreciated them for their noble initiative of providing free medicines to all the Covid patients from entire state who cannot afford the medicines from open market. And also thanked them for their continuous support extended to the community.

The Team proceeded to SD Jain Charitable Centre under Jain Samaj, Dimapur where the centre is being utilized as vaccination centre since 14th April 2021. The management of the centre briefed the Team that around 500 beneficiaries have been vaccinated as of now, and today reportedly 198 persons were vaccinated.

Sema, during the visits observed that Nagas are not coming forward for vaccination as they have not realized that vaccination is the greatest weaponto fight against the pandemic. During the visit to Lions Club vaccination centre, Kikheto was dismayed to notice that only one local Pastor Khetoshe Yeptho availed vaccination after he had attempted for more than two weeks for vaccination. He asserted that death rate on non-vaccinated death is alarmingly high rate of about 95% which is a matter of great concern. He urged the Medical department and District Administration to disseminate the information about the availability of vaccine, place and other related information to the people through print media and other social media platforms. District Immunization Officer, Dr. Rebecca informed that due to poor connectivity, vaccination of all age groups in rural areas is allowed 'on the spot' registration from 31st may 2021.

The Nodal Officer on behalf of the State government and Team Dimapur extend sincere acknowledgement and heartiest gratitude to all Civil Societies, Churches, NG0s, families and individuals for coming forward to fight the dreaded virus collectively. The immense responses received from the people irrespective of tribe, caste, religion, political affiliations etc. has greatly boosted the morale of the frontline workers. He expressed that the citizens of Dimapur are ever proactive and always there whenever needed. "Collectively, we will win the war." He said.
