            Yikhum Village Baptist Church (YBC) under Wokha District inaugurated Rehabilitation Centre (Ekumrhong) on 20 March 2021.

            Congratulating Yikhum Baptist Church, DC Wokha, Orenthung Lotha highlighted that Yikhum Village is the first village in Wokha district to declared tobacco free zone and added that the inauguration of the rehabilitation centre is another milestone of the church ministry. Lotha reiterated that the district administration and all the stakeholders of the district would remain steadfast in its support for the success of rehabilitation centre.

            Highlighting earlier failure of such rehab centres in the district, the DC opined that for the success and sustainability of such centre it requires dedicated specialist and professional human resources as it dealt with human complexity. Lotha expressed his optimism that under the patronage of the church, the centre will go a long way which will benefit the people of the State.

            Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha, Dr, C, W Tungoe while extending greetings to the gathering said that de-addiction or rehab centre initiated by the church is a real missionary work. The CMO added that Wokha district has earlier faced failures in two rehab centre, de-addiction centre at District Hospital (1999-2014) and inter-denominational care centre (2006- 2013) due to lacked of fund. He said that the district is in dire need of such centre as it is witnessing high surge of substance and alcoholic abuse and addiction in the district, Dr. Tungoe also assured the church that the concern department will come forward and assist the centre for its success.

            Pastor YBC, R. Nzanbemo while welcoming the gathering said that the vision for establishing the centre under the aegis “Ekumrhong” “Lifeboat” is to save the perishing soul of a person/family spiritually and socially whose life has been destroyed through drugs, alcoholic addiction and by other social issues. Nzambemo said the centre was established through the generous donations of the church members and well-wishers. Rev. L.K. Tsanglao, Pastor Longsa BC dedicated the centre, Rev. Ellis Lotha, Pastor, UBC Doyang Delivered the God’s Message.
