The 1st Nagaland Futsal Championship organised by Nagaland Football Association (NFA) in collaboration with Dimapur District Football Association (DDFA) got underway at Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) on 11th September 2021.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Editor in Chief, Nagaland Post, Geoffrey Yaden who attended the programme as Special Guest, congratulated the NFA and DDFA for being able to arrange such tournament in a short period of time. Citing the example of Dr. T. Ao, who was the first Indian Olympic Football Captain, he said that football is not new to people of the state. He also recalled the Nagaland Police Football Team which was one of the toughest team in the country and the teams that won the Subroto Cup. He therefore encouraged the participants to get inspiration from past sportspersons who brought laurels to the state.
NFA, President, Neibou Sekhose in his address mentioned that the winning team will represent the state in the forthcoming National Futsal Championship. In regard to Santosh Trophy Zonal round which will be held at Tripura, he informed that the selection will be held this month and only registered players will be allowed to represent the state.
President DDFA also addressed the gathering. The programme was chaired by Keyi Putlang.
