The Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland, organized a Felicitation Program to honour the meritorious government school students who excelled in the HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2025. The programme was held at the Morung Conference Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima, on 13th June, 2025 and was attended by top officials, school representatives, students, and parents.
The event was graced by Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhriehuolie Yhome as the Special Guest accompanied by Advisor Youth Resources & Sports, S. Keoshu Yimchunger. In his address, Dr. Yhome congratulated all the students, teachers, officials for the remarkable results and Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) for successfully conducting the examinations. He said that the Government provides education to all, irrespective of financial status, tribe or religion and is striving to be at par with the best of schools across the country. He also lauded all the Government schools principals and teachers for achieving very high pass percentages in HSLC and HSSLC examinations. Dr Yhome noted that the HSSLC overall pass percentages in Arts stream was 80% , 78% in commerce and 72% in science which is similar to what most private schools achieved this year. He announced that the Department has planned for leadership training for teachers, introduction of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, particularly in the elementary level of school education and to use all the resources available in improving infrastructure across Government schools in Nagaland. Dr.Yhome stated that the Department has a target of bringing back 1 lakh students into the Government schools by 2030, through active engagement with the community and teachers to achieve this goal. He ended his speech by encouraging the students to continue striving for excellence and to contribute meaningfully to society.
Principal Director of School Education, Shashank Pratap Singh, IAS, lauded the students for their exceptional performance and encouraged students studying in Government schools to continue to work hard and bring more laurels to their community and the state. He said that the Department provides financial support for further studies for students through scholarships from primary school to higher secondary and colleges.
A congratulatory message was delivered by Commissioner & Secretary of School Education and SCERT, Kevileno Angami, who praised the students for their perseverance and encouraged them to aim higher in their future endeavours. She said that's despite various challenges and limitations faced by Government students such as lack of infrastructure, shortage of teachers, the students and teachers through their hard work and dedication have achieved such good results and said that she believed in the students to continue to bring accolades in their future endeavours as well.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of awards and certificates to the top three government school students in the HSLC and HSSLC 2025 examination across the Science, Arts, and Commerce streams. They received a cash award of Rs. 30000, 20000 and 10000 respectively. The HSLC top three students were Igumule Telia from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Peren, Imtiyala from Govt. High School, Khar, and Kongkor Boro from Govt. High School, Naharbari.
In the HSSLC Science stream, the top three students were: Limsowa Jamir, Wangshizenla and Rongchensenla Yar from Mayangnokcha Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Mokokchung. In the Arts stream, the top performers were: Vikhono Senotsu from GHSS, Jotsoma, Asieno Kielienyu from GHSS, Sechu and Julie Giri from GHSS, Medziphema. In the Commerce stream, the top three students were Kezhazetuo Nagi from Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Jotsoma, Temjenlemla Yim from Mayangnokcha Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Mokokchung, and Mesu U Koza from Rüzhükhrie Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Kohima.
The event also featured experience-sharing sessions by some of the students. Additionally, a special number was performed by students of Government High School, Bayavü and Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima. The Directorate of School Education also recognized government schools with student enrolment of more than five students that achieved a 100% pass percentage in the HSLC and HSSLC 2025 examinations.
A total of 20 Government high schools and 3 Higher Secondary Schools were recognized for their perfect pass percentages, a remarkable achievement that underscores the improving quality of education in the state.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Additional Director, DoSE, Deenabandhu Panda who expressed gratitude to all participants, dignitaries, and organizers for making the event a success.
