The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland informed that the Election Commission of India has announces measures to facilitate electors during the SIR. The Commission has taken the following decisions to facilitate electors during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls:
1. In cases where notices have been issued to persons whose details are unmapped or have logical discrepancies, the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit their homes to collect the required documents. The documents will be uploaded on ECINET for decision by the EROs/AEROs. Such persons do not need to visit the ERO/AERO office for a hearing. hearing will be required only in exceptional cases, as decided by the EROs/AEROs, and preferably through online mode. If required, an adult member of the family may be authorized by the elector to attend the hearing on their behalf.
2. District Election Officers will set up adequate Help Desks/ hold Special Camps, as required, to assist people living in night shelters, labourers, poor and homeless persons, and others who may need assistance during the SIR. District-wise Help Desk contact numbers are available on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, https://ceo.nagaland.gov.in.
3. In States/UTs where SIR has already been completed, a special drive will be conducted for the enrolment of left-out electors and young/first-time eligible electors under continuous updation of electoral rolls.
4. The Declaration Form attached with Form 6 will be used only during the SIR period. During the non-SIR period, the forms prescribed under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 will be used.
