Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio held a meeting with Tuensang District Task Force for COVID -19 members at DC’s Conference Hall, Tuensang on 22nd June 2021.

Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DTF Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant highlighted the statistical report on COVID-19 status in a presentation and he mentioned some of the challenges faced by the District in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tribal Hohos of the district while appreciating the support and care of the Government towards the district, expressed their grievances in the health sector of the District. 

Rio mentioned about the Government’s focus on health sector and assured the districts that it will keep the people safe and overcome the pandemic. He highlighted on the huge development of oxygen generator plant at Tuensang urged the gathering to maintain and taken care of the various facilities.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Pangnyu Phom mentioned about the Government’s plans in fulfilling the needs and demands of the district. He is of the view that vaccination and testing at Tuensang district should be boosted to catch up with the other districts, for which he urged the civil societies, tribal leaders and other faith based institutions to play an active and proactive role in educating the people. Phom said that as of now, vaccine is the only solution for which he sought the cooperation of everyone.

MLA, Toyang Changkhong Chang appreciated the commitment and concern of the Chief Minister towards the district in facilitating the much needed equipment and also for his personal presence in launching the Oxygen Generator Plant.

Principal Secretary, H&FW, Amardeep S. Bhatia stated that the idea on relaxing the lockdown depends on bringing down the positivity rate of the State below 5%. However, he stressed that it does not mean the pandemic is gone, but everyone should follow the COVID appropriate behaviour. He said that testing rate still remains one of the lowest in the Country and highlighted on the need to focus on boosting the testing rate as it will help determine the COVID status of the State and also the vaccination processes. ASHA workers are to ensure that they are in the respective villages to do their needful duties and also facilitate the health care in the villages, he added.

Principal Director H&FW, Dr. Neikhrielie said the Government and Department is very sensitive towards the health system of the State and trying to provide every essentials on the need base.
