As part of the World Environment Day Celebration 2022, the Kohima Forest Division, Department of Environment, Forests and Climate Change in collaboration with Kohima Town Club (KTC) launched the customized football jersey at the Conference Hall of Forest Office Complex, Kohima on 2nd June 2022, and is all set to play football exhibition match against Manipur Eleven (Kanglipak Club) on 4th June 2022 at I.G Stadium at 4:30 PM onward.

The Divisional Forest Officer Kohima, Rajkumar M while launching the Jersey, highlighted the significance of the Jersey, which is customized according to the World Environment Day depicting the global warming. He said that using sports as a tool to create awareness amongst the youth to be more environment conscious is also one of the activities that the Forest Department is initiating so far. The DFO also said that Green Pledge shall be taken before the exhibition match and 2000 tree saplings will be distributed to the audience after the match. 

Speaking about the exhibition match, President, Kohima Town Club, Dr. Viketoulie Pienyu said that the Club was formed on 1st December 2016 with its aim to promote and provide a platform to young talented local youths in the field of sports to a higher and greater level and in view of this, the exhibition match is being organized. He said that many young talented youths have been identified and discovered through the football league so far, where some have made it even to the national level. 

Dr. Pienyu also thanked Rajkumar M. and the staff for supporting and extending help for the match.

The programme was chaired by Pelebeinuo and the note of gratitude was proposed by Zedikuolie Kire, Convenor, Organizing Committee.
