Deputy commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS in an order issued on 27th March 2020 stated that, in continuation of directive issued by his office vide order No.GA/DEV/COVID-19/2020/90 Dated 7th March 2020 and in pursuance of Order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, all social/political/sports/entertainment/academic/cultural/ religious functions/gatherings are barred in Mon District for a period of 21 days w.e.f 25/03/2020.
Anyone found violating the above will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 besides legal action under Section 188 of the IPC.
In another order the DC issued the following regulations to be imposed for purchase of essential commodities in Mon Town with effect from 27th March 2020 till further orders.
Maximum permissible quantity per day.
- Rice: 10kg per family
- Dal: 1 kg per family
- Oil: 1 litre per family
- Milk powder: 1kg per family
- Sugar: 1 kg per family
- Tea leaves: 1 kg per family
All the shopkeepers are hereby ordered for strict compliance to the above mentioned regulations.
Any person/group in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
He also stated that the District Administration Mon and Mon Town Council in collaboration with Naga Logistics will be starting a Home Delivery Service of essential commodities and medicines at a charge of Rs. 10 (Ten) per delivery at any location within Mon Town. An extra amount of Rs. 10 (Ten) will be charged for packages weighing more than 10 kgs.

All types of construction works, including roads/houses/brick kilns, etc are to be stopped immediately.
Further, all types of manufacturing units except those dealing with essential commodities shall remain closed.
