A joint meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) for Kohima and Tseminyu districts was held at DPDB hall, Kohima on 5th June 2023.
MP, Tokheho Yepthomi addressing the meeting called on the departments to avail the centrally sponsored schemes wisely and to be strategic as the policies of the central government of funding has changed a lot. He also called upon the concerned to take up awareness programess for the CSS.
In the meeting, Project Director DRDA, Kohima highlighted on their success stories and related activities of the department. She highlighted that projects taken up under Rural Development are MGNREGA, 15th FINANCE, NSRLM and PMAY-(G). She also stated that the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA or NREGA) is an Indian labor law and a social security measure that aims to guarantee the “right to work”. The objective of MGNREGA act is to enhance the livelihood security in the rural areas by providing at least hundred days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every household whose member volunteers to do unskilled manual work. It is a demand driven program where provision of work is triggered by the demand for work by wage seekers. Each household is entitled to have one job card. All the job card holders should be adult members of the local residents. Equal wages are provided to both Men and Women.
Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies briefed on the programmes and activities in the Department. He mentioned that the National Food Security Act, 2013 aims to provide food and national security at affordable prices to eligible beneficiaries and was implemented in the state on July 2016, he also highlighted on the provision of sugar and kerosene oil allotted to Kohima district. He briefed on the PMGKAY and the Annapurna Scheme.
Executive Engineer, Power gave a detailed explanation on the Rural Electrification Works and Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana. The house also deliberated on the pre-paid meter to which the MP opined that it should be completed at a good time.
Earlier, Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) both Rural and Urban briefed on the development of the road projects at the district and in that context, Yepthomi advised the officers that the fund for the projects while making the DPR should not be limited and to avail the maximum amount for construction of roads.
On Jal Jeevan Mission under PHE department in the district, the MP was apprised that 70 percent of the mission has been completed, wherein he asked the concerned department to complete remaining percentage of the scheme within the time frame.
The CMO while presenting her reports highlighted on the health centers and the programmes which are going actively in the district. The MP questioned on the status of eradication of leprocy, TB and HIV/AIDS and the preventive measures for all these diseases. He also stressed on the social stigma created by the public and therefore urged the department to have an active surveillance in their concerned districts.
Officers from the Tribal Affairs highlighted on status of Article 275 (1), Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub Schemes (SCA – TSS), Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY) and Tribal Research Institute (TRI).
