            Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission Mon in collaboration with District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Mon organised the celebration of International Women's Day with the theme "Women in Leadership" (Achieving Equal Future in a Covid World) on 8th March 2021 at DRDA Resource Centre Mon. The event was chaired by AC (SISD) Wakho Konyak. 

            BDO & BMM RD Block Mon, T Manhom Konyak in his welcome address stated that the day was celebrated to acknowledge the social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women. 

            Delivering a short note on International Women's Day, Project Director DRDA Mon, Wennyei Konyak NCS stated that the day was not only to acknowledge the achievements and challenges of women but also focus on the way forward. He stated that in Konyak tradition, women had always been empowered since time immemorial by citing an example that in order to be an Angh (King), one had to be born out of a Rani (Queen). He further stated that the fields were always in the Queen's name.  He stated that the role of a women in the house was that of a pillar and urged upon the gathering to stand strong for their own family. 

            SDO (Civil) Mon HQ, Ilika Zhimomi NCS in her exhortation stressed on the importance of education for girls and urged upon the gathering to ensure that every girl child within their own family is given the opportunity to avail proper education. 

            Resource person for the event, Chief Judicial Magistrate & Secretary DLSA Mon, Seyielenuo Mezhii highlighted some of the female personalities from international and national platforms who were instrumental in their own fields during the Covid Pandemic. She stated that it was important to know the great achievements of such female personalities in order to remind oneself the potential and capabilities of women. 

            Mezhii asserted that the way forward was to appreciate and uplift one another and to stand up together to fight for women's Political and Property Rights. She urged upon the gathering to introspect into their lives and bring about changes in order to faithfully fulfill the role of a woman. She also urged upon the gathering to work in fear of God with discipline, transparency and integrity and to live an exemplary life. 

            Pashet VLO Leangha Village received the best VLO while Shakjong VLO Chi Village performed a special song. The event was attended by female members of various SHGs, officers and staffs of NSRLM and DLSA.
