Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation & Land Resources, P.Paiwang Konyak inaugurated the first civil helipad at Zunheboto district on 25th January 2021, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto Peter Lichamo, other heads of departments, public leaders and party workers.

In an interview with the media persons, Konyak pointed out that, the current government's aim is to come up with civil helipad in all the districts at the nearest possible time to which he added that, civil helipads completed as of now include Wokha and Zunheboto district, Tizit sub-division and Mokokchung district is also due for inauguration on 15th Aug 2021.

The Minister also spoke about the completion of helipads in all internal places of Kohima district. He also highlighted on the project of the government in building an exclusive civil heliport at Dimapur. Minister added that, the government is sincere on development from all possible means but it is also the duty of every citizen to utilise the provided services judiciously. He also mentioned that, despite the challenges of the weather conditions, chopper services of the state shall be of 1200 hrs of flying and unlike other states, the government is providing twin engine choppers, importantly keeping in mind the safety of the travelling citizens of the state. Further, taking about the conditions of the government's passenger transport vehicles in the state, minister informed that he is in talks with the union ministry regarding improvement of NST buses services in the state.

The Minister, who is also on official duty of unfurling the national flag and taking the Rashtriya Salute on Republic day celebration, thanked the deputy commissioner, SP and all officers concerned for making all the necessary arrangements and welcoming him with a grand reception.

Earlier, at the inaugural programme, which was chaired by EAC, Orenthung Kikon, Pastor ZTSBC Rev Dr Daniel Chishi pronounced the dedicatory prayer.
