A farewell programme in honour of retiring Commissioner & Secretary, Higher & Technical Education, W. Honje Konyak was held at the Directorate of Technical Education, Kohima on 6th April 2022.
Minister, Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along stated that Honje Konyak is the best Commissioner & Secretary that he as a politician has worked with, and added that politicians are meant to be objective to the bureaucrats and vice versa. He wished Honje Konyak a wonderful tenure as Chairman of NPSC, and added that Honje is one Konyak leader who is working for the whole of Nagas, and Imna Along also expressed his belief that he will be taking the same outlook as Chairman of NPSC.
Imna Along hoped that the Department of Higher Education and Technical Education will chart new ventures for the young minds of Nagaland. He called for all the officers and staff of the department to work together for the good of the people. He said the department has helped many in the State to become top bureaucrats, social activists, entrepreneurs and professionals. Even though the department is not a revenue generating department, Imna stated that it is a human resource development department that will determine the revenue, economic prosperity, and peaceful co-existence in the State.
Advisor, Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha speaking during the farewell programme shared about his acquaintance with Honje Konyak when the latter was the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima.Yhokha said that Honje Konyak as aDeputy Commissioner among the present generation has heavily influenced the calm and peace prevailing in Kohima. He congratulated Honje Konyak for being appointed as the Chairman of NPSC, and stated that with his integrity, ability and determination for solving problems, there is a bright future for the youngsters, and will reinstitute again the hope, trust and confidence the youngsters have on the highest recruiting Board.
Delivering his farewell speech, W. Honje Konyak said that he worked in the department for 10 (ten) months, and that whatever was achieved during that period is not an individual achievement but due to teamwork. He said there is no issue that cannot be solved if we work hand in hand. He credited his achievements to his sincerity, hardwork and added that his father was the first convert to Christianity in his village and also the first deacon, and the fruit of which, he shared, he has reaped. He also urged the Higher Education and Technical Education departments, to work continuously for the upliftment of the society.
Thanking the outgoing officer for his contribution to the Department for the past 10 (ten) months, Director, Higher Education, Dr. Katoni Jakhalu said W. Honje Konyak worked with keen interest, energy, and with his vast knowledge and experience, he took up the challenges and provided the much needed boost to the department. She expressed her gratitude to the retiring officer for being the architect of the State’s NEP 2020.
Director, Technical Education, Er. Mhaseto Nakro speaking at the farewell programme said that Honje Konyak’s work culture has inspired and motivated them and that they are sad to see him go. He wished him success in his future endeavours.
The programme was chaired by Additional Director, Higher Education, Dr. Lily Sema who also delivered the concluding remarks. Invocation was pronounced by Additional Director, Technical Education, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu.
