The full text of the statement on COVID-19 as given by the Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha IAS is as follows:

“Good evening

I would like to give a briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the State as on 13th of April 2020.

I would like to inform that late night on the 11th of April 2020 a patient from DimapurNagaland was referred to Guwahati and there he has been detected Covid-19 positive yesterday at Guwahati Medical College Hospital. The patient is presently under treatment at GMCH.

The patient had returned to Dimapur by Air India Flight No. 709 from Kolkata on 24th March 2020, and contact tracing has been completed for all his co-passengers who were on the same flight from Kolkata. All the members of the joint family of the patient have been already shifted to the Government quarantine Centres.

Further the patient is a resident of Marwari Patti and this area along with Murgi Patti and GS Road have been sealed by the District Administration and the Police. The wholesale market at GS Road Dimapur and retail shops at Marwaripatti and Ghorapatty will remain closed until further orders.

The parents and family members of the patient who are presently in Guwahati are undergoing necessary tests.

The Zion Hospital, Dimapur where the patient had received treatment before leaving for Guwahati, has been sealed. The doctors, nurses, all other staff of Zion Hospital and their family members who came into direct and indirect contact with the patient have also been quarantined.

The collection of samples of people in connection with the positive case of the person from Dimapur is going on and till 5: 00 pm today, a total of 22 samples from Kohima and 14 samples from Dimapur have been collected.

I conclude by once again soliciting the support and cooperation of everyone for unitedly combating the threat of COVID-19.
