Behind the scene, and many a times unnoticed, the Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF Dimapur District has been working round the clock for COVID 19 related activities since 25th March 2020.
Presently Home Guards and Civil Defence personnel are deployed in manning 8 posts in the border areas covering Dillai Gate, Borlingiri, Ao Yimsen, New field Gate, Khatkati, LRC Balijan, Notin Basti and Sangtamtila. The personnel undertake the task of thermal screening the people in the border areas 24x7. This was informed by the District Commandant HG and CD, Dimapur, Y. Khenito Chishi, during an interaction with DPRO Dimapur.
Besides, the SDRF team under HG and Civil defence undertook the task of transporting the body from the hotel to the morgue in COVID hospital Dimapur, of the pregnant lady under Quarantine who was found dead in a hotel at Dimapur. The SDRF team also took the entire tasks of transporting the dead body of the 82 year old man who passed away yesterday from COVID 19 hospital Dimapur to the cemetery and burial was also done by the team following all protocols. Besides, their personnel are also deployed for security duty in the QCs, hotels, State sports academy and several other points.
Besides COVID duties, the SDRF team also retrieved 2 dead bodies on two occasions, one from Old Dhansiri bridge on 30th March 2020 and recently at Pimla on 28th June 2020, Chishi informed.
On asked about any challenges faced, Chishi said that initially they faced PPE shortages but added that with the sufficient supply from the HQ and the district administration and some well wishers the problem has been solved. He informed that presently he deploys around 117 personnel out of the working strength of 125 including the officers.
On a lighter note, Chishi expressed that people hardly recognise them as personnel from HG and CD as they also use Khaki uniform.
He expressed his appreciation to the District administration, CP Dimapur, Civil SDO Sadar, Zuben Ngullie for the support rendered to them while exercising their duties. He also conveyed his appreciation to Dr.Rolland Lotha for his contribution and the NNF and SWF for their acknowledging their services.
