Independence Day was celebrated with great zeal and patriotism at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung. Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resources Development & Horticulture, Govt. of Nagaland, graced the occasion as the special guest. Kruse delivered the Independence Day speech, hoisted the National Flag, and took the Rashtriya salute from an impressive lineup of eleven parade contingents, including DEF Mokokchung, 2nd NAP Alichen, 13th IR Battalion, Home Guards & Civil Defense, NCC MGHSS, and others. The celebration was further enhanced by captivating cultural dances and pipe band displays, while the pledge for a Drug-Free Nagaland resonated strongly.

The event also witnessed the presentation of the District Commendation Award for Meritorious Service to six individuals who have displayed exceptional dedication in various fields. The awardees included Tekamera R. Keitzar, Jongpongtola, Sanenchiba, Temjenyapang Ao, and Moanola Longchar, who were recognized for their commendable contributions.
