Independence Day was celebrated with fervor and patriotism at the Local Ground in Mon Town. The esteemed presence of K.G Kenye, Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland, marked the occasion. The Minister commenced the event by hoisting the TRICOLOR and reviewing the parade.

The parade featured march pasts by various contingents, including NAP Tizit, DEF Mon, Village Guard Mon Village, NCC of Konjong Higher Secondary School, Government Higher Secondary School, and Wangkhao Government College, among others. Assistant Commandant K Hekato Sumi led the contingents as the Parade Commander, along with ABI L. Lanu Chang and HAV Tankai Konyak. The Minister read out the Independence Day speech and administered a pledge for drug-free Nagaland.

The District Commendation Award 2023 was conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service, contributing to the betterment of the community across various departments. Cultural performances, special songs, and dance presentations added vibrancy to the celebration. The evening program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and the rhythmic performance of the 6th NAP Pipe Band during the beating of retreat ceremony.
