Phek Town celebrated the Independence Day with Advisor CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo gracing the occasion as the Special Guest.
Khamo delivered the Independence Day speech. He administered a pledge for a drug-free Nagaland, emphasizing the importance of eradicating this menace from society.
The event was marked by the hoisting of the National Flag by the Special Guest and the Rashtriya salute taken from 19 parade contingents. The parade was led by Parade Commander Assistant Commandant Lipokakum Jamir from the 5th NAP Phek, with Parade Second-in-Command ABI Keviletou Soliezuo from DEF Phek and Parade CHM HAV Pota Chakhesang from DEF Phek.
An exhibition of stalls by seven government departments, two schools, Phek Area Mother's Association, Nana Bakes Phek, and Mama's Home Pickle added vibrancy to the celebration. The occasion witnessed a special performance by the students of Kiddies Corner School Phek, followed by a captivating warrior folk dance by the Lozaphuhu Village Cultural Troupe.
Sports enthusiasts had their share of excitement as a football exhibition match took place between Phek District Veteran Football Association and Officers/HODs, further energizing the festive spirit.
The celebration drew a crowd of approximately 3000 attendees, including government officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and enthusiastic citizens of Phek Town.
