Zunheboto district commemorated the 77th Independence Day with Jacob Zhimomi, Minister of Public Health Engineering & Cooperation, as the chief guest. The event unfolded with the arrival of the chief guest, who hoisted the national flag. This was followed by parade inspection and the Independence Day speech delivered by the Chief Guest.

The occasion was enriched by a march past, led by Deputy SP Phyolumo as the parade commander and Sihu Angami as the parade second-in-command, comprising 13 contingents. Jacob Zhimomi felicitated 32 individuals who had demonstrated outstanding dedication and service to the government and the people across various categories.

The event also saw the launch of a campaign against drug abuse by the Minister. Cultural performances by Natha old village graced the event, followed by the inauguration of exhibition stalls and CCTVs at Zunheboto police stations by the Minister. The day's celebrations concluded with a retreat ceremony by 11th Assam Rifles Zunheboto.
