Yingli College, Lonlgeng celebrated, “A Prelude to Monyiü”, under the theme, “Revive, Relearn, Progress: A Cultural Journey” with Superintendent of Police (SP), Longleng, Yanger Jamir, NPS, as the special guest on 28th March 2025.

SP, Yanger Jamir, in his address congratulated the faculties and administration of Yingli college for progressing each passing day. He said that Nagas and particularly the Phom community should be proud of one’s identity since everyone is unique in their own way and should not surrender without trying. He further urged the students to carefully choose their career, considering the fact that everybody cannot become a gazetted officer. Instead, he encouraged them to identify their talents and interests and set meaningful goals accordingly.

Earlier, welcome address was delivered by Dr. T. Temsu Imti, Principal, Yingli College, Longleng while Dr. B. Henshet  Phom, Vice Principal, Yingli College deliberated on the history of Monyiü.

Monyiü greetings was shared by Ainyu Phom, President, Phomla Hoichem and N. Nanpei Phom, Head GB, Bhumnyu Village narrated the history of the Bhumnyu villagers land contribution for the establishment of Yingli College.

Later, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the Superintendent of Police’s office for five years of internship to work towards capacity building, community engagements and public safety. The MoU will enable both institutions to collaborate on matters of local, state and national importance, prioritising student’s education.

The day also witnessed harmony heritage song and folk dance performed by students and a special Monyiü song performed by  M. Phammei Phom.

The second session witnessed a talk on the topic "Writing Culture: A Way Forward" by Phom writer, Chingong Phom. The programme concluded with a talent extravaganza. It was a day marked by colourful celebration of the Phom tribe's biggest harvest festival where students and teachers from all the high schools, and some officers from various departments partook.
