My Bharat Longleng in collaboration with District Sports Office Longleng celebrated international women's day aligned with Asmita, Khelo India (Achieving Sports Milestone by Inspiring women through Sports) on 8th March 2026, at public ground Longleng.
President, Phomla Hoichem, A. Ainyu Phom, who attended the program as special invitee encouraged the participants to actively participate at the local level and showcase their talents at the state and national level. On behalf of Phomla Hoichem, the apex Women Organisation of Phom community, she urged the administration and the District Sports Officer to organize the next International Women’s Day with more extravagant event. The speaker congratulated all participants on their success and urged women to aim higher.
In his keynote address, District Youth Officer Longleng, Hitesh Kumar expressed his happiness for celebrating the women’s day with the ASMITA League. Briefing on ASMITA league, he said the initiative is not just a sports competition; it is a movement to empower women and encourage young girls to come forward and showcase their talent. Sports have the power to transform lives, it build confidence, discipline, leadership, and a strong spirit of teamwork. Through platforms like the ASMITA League, thousands of young girls across the country are getting the opportunity to dream big and achieve excellence in sports, he noted.
He also informed that league athletes are taking part in different Competition that plays an important role in identifying young talent at the grassroots level and giving them a platform to grow. It also sends a strong message to society that girls are equally capable and deserve equal opportunities in sports and every field of their life.
Congratulating all the participants, he said the real victory in sports is not just about winning medals but about participation, dedication, and the spirit of fair play. He concluded by appealing everyone to encourage and support our daughters to shine and bring glory to our nation.
District Sports Officer, Angoto Thokhwe gave away the prices to the winners during the events. The events includes running race in 100, 200 and 400 meters for under 13, 13-18 and above 18 categories girls, where girls from all the schools under DEO Longleng participated the event's.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by C. Imlichuba Chingham Phom and the programme was chaired by National Youth Volunteer My Bharat Longleng (NYV), Henyah A and Lungchem Phom.
