The 12th Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully conducted and culminated its Familiarisation Exercise (FAMEX) for Nagaland State at its last district, Zunheboto on 28th Feb 2025. In the last demonstration, comprehensive earthquake rescue awareness programme at enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities among key stakeholders and the public was staged at Government College, Zunheboto.
As part of the State Touring initiative, NDRF personnel carried out specialized rescue techniques, including search-and-rescue operations, victim evacuation, and first-aid administration across the state. These exercises were designed to provide practical training and equip participants with critical life-saving skills essential for effective emergency response during seismic events, official stated.
At Zunheboto, the event was witnessed by district administrative officials, police personnel, HoDs and students, who actively engaged in the programme. During the winding up programme, touring officials emphasized the importance of community readiness and a well-coordinated response to minimize casualties and damage in earthquake-prone regions.
Later, an interactive session, after the live demonstration was held allowing participants to engage with NDRF experts on disaster mitigation strategies, the use of emergency equipment, and best practices in crisis management.
