After the Janta Curfew on 22nd March, 2020 and report of stranded 10 passengers from Nagaland was received, a meeting was held in the office chamber of the Dy. Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, New Delhi on 23rd March, 2020. Thereafter, a control center was setup and the Government of Nagaland through the office of the Resident Commissioner, New Delhi has been extending assistance to students/working persons and patients including stranded passengers from Nagaland.
As on date, 13 stranded passengers have been rescued and provided food and shelter at Nagaland House. The control center at Nagaland House is extending assistance in the form of dry rations to people from the state directly as well as through NGOs, after being crossed checked by respective tribal units. There has been tremendous support from Naga elders, Pastors and student unions, Delhi Police and NGOs in Delhi.
Owing to the lock down many of our people are facing serious difficulties in procuring essential items and even financially. Over the last three weeks since the enforcement of lockdown, the Government of Nagaland with the support of the student unions have beensincerely reaching out to all our people in these difficult times and extending assistance in all manner. Altogether, over 400 persons have been provided with dry rations and 15 patients have been assisted by the medical team in Delhi NCR, though there is still a lot needed to be done.
The Control Center at Nagaland House, New Delhi would like to sincerely appreciate the partnership of various Naga Student bodies, Delhi Police (SPUNER), tribal bodies, Naga elders and unit churches/fellowships in Delhi in the collective effort to reach out in the need of our brothers and sisters in Delhi NCR. The doctors and nurses from Nagaland who are working at various hospitals in Delhi NCR have been extending timely support to our people, even beyond their call of duty. The Chief Minister Nagaland through the CMRF has already sanctioned Rs.4,00,000/- in two phases to Nagaland House New Delhi, which is being optimally utilized to ensure that our people do not go hungry.
The Control Center Nagaland House, New Delhi has reassured the parents and families back home that no efforts would be spared to ensure that our people in Delhi NCR are provided timely support and assistance as and when needed.
