With the consolidate efforts of the District Administration and Longleng Town Council in collaboration with the NGOs and civil societies such as the Phom People's Council, Phom Students' Conference & Phomla Hoichen, the Village Councils, Students Community, Village Guards, GBs & DBs and Churches the entire villages under Longleng district have been on lockdown along with the district headquarter Longleng and Tamlu sub-division since the lockdown begins on 26th March 2020 with the rest of the nation.

Since then the Village Guards (VGs) and the Volunteers from the students' body have been round the clock to ensure complete lockdown under their respective village jurisdiction. Village gates are closed and seal with Village Guards, volunteers and GBs deployed to ensure complete hold of movement from village to village. People were not allowed to enter or go out from the village except on emergency cases. Hand wash tanks was also seem in some villages installed at the village gates to be used by the people coming back to their village after shopping from the towns or out for emergency cases.

The district administration has issued prohibition order to ban celebration of Monyu Festival in the district which begins today on 1st April. The towns and villages seem deserted with no social gatherings seems on the 1st day of the festival otherwise a busy streets filled with people marketing in jubilation for preparation of Monyu. No exchange of gifts, invitation or merrymaking this Monyu for the People of Longleng.  

The Yachem village of S. Pangnyu Phom Minister for Health & Family Welfare Nagaland and M. Shayung Phom Deputy Commissioner of Longleng was seen completely deserted and lockdown on the 1st day of Monyu Festival was a good exemplary sign. It also signifies the discipline of the citizens of Yachem village to the prohibition order issued by the district administration to banned celebration of Monyu Festival.

The district administration and police have been stitching mask as an alternative arrangements with the help of the police tailors due to shortage of mask in the district. The district administration led by the Deputy Commissioner and the Phom Students Community have also been providing refreshments to the police and volunteers engaged on lockdown duty. The overall situation of the district is peaceful.
