The Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland unveiled a magnified showcase of Naga Heritage and artistry with the inauguration of the Handloom & Craft Pavilion at the iconic Hornbill Festival 2025. Previously known as Bamboo Pavilion, it was formally inaugurated by MLA & Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu during the 26th edition of the Hornbill Festival 2025.
A sprawling hub of creativity, the pavilion boosts an impressive 137 stalls, creating a comprehensive ecosystem of Naga Craft. The participants included 16 State awardees across various trades and districts.
In Handloom & Textiles Section, a spectacular 50 stalls have been on display manifesting the rich Naga weaving traditions, featuring intricate shawls, vibrant wraps, contemporary fusion wear and traditional attires from various tribes.
The Handicraft section includes 57 stalls with products ranging from exquisite bamboo and cane work, wood carvings, traditional jewellery beadworks, souvenirs and innovative utility items that blend tradition with modern design.
Food Connect 3.0, under this, a dedicated 20 stalls showcasing the rich Naga culinary heritage offering pickles, organic honey, dry fruits, black rice, local wine and other delicacies.
10 pottery stalls have been set up showcasing the earthly artistry of traditional pottery along with other unique crafts.
The Handloom & Craft Pavilion serves as the cornerstone of the Department of Industries & Commerce, initiated to promote and encourage local entrepreneurship, market linkages and preserve the intangible cultural heritage of Nagaland. It also aims to foster sustainable livelihood, boost local economy and position local made products at National and International level.
