State Home Department has issued the report on Law & Order and supply of essential goods and commodities on daily basis of the COVID-19 lockdown in Nagaland.

According to the report as on 6th May 2020, the Principal Secretary Abhijit Sinha, IAS, has stated that 6(six) persons were bound down and 1(one) vehicle was seized. Moreover, fines were imposed on 49(forty nine) vehicles under various sections of MV Act and added that Rs 22,000 have been collected.

The report also said that shops for food grains and groceries and shops for milk and medicine remain open in all the districts except Mokokchung. The report added that there was no shortage of essential goods in the State.

Further, the movement of essential service providers like electricity, telecom facilities, medical facilities etc and personnel/workers in manufacturing units and commercial vehicles for distribution of essential commodities and e-commerce were not restricted.

Suitable arrangements have been made for providing food & shelter to migrant workers affected by the COVID-19 restrictions. In this regard, the report informed that there are 4(four) active relief camps where 290(two hundred and ninety) migrant labourers are housed. It also informed that there are 3(three) active food camps in which more than 1,100(one thousand one hundred) daily wagers/needy persons are provided with food/dry rations.
