The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has informed concerned voters that persons issued notices for being unmapped or having logical discrepancies need not appear personally before the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO)/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for hearing.
According to the press release, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit the residences of such persons to collect the required documents and upload them on the ECINet for consideration by the ERO/AERO.
Hearings will be conducted only in exceptional cases and, preferably, through online mode. Where required, an elector may authorize any adult family member to attend the hearing on their behalf.
The DEO further clarified that the Declaration Form attached with Form 6 will be used only during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) phase. During the non-SIR period, the applicable forms prescribed under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, will be used.
It was also informed that Special Camps will be conducted during the SIR in areas having marginalized and vulnerable populations, wherever such areas are identified.
