With regard to the news item published in local dailies relating to the closing down of check gates at Tsutapela under Mangkolemba Subdivision by the inspection team, the news item should be read as "The team after spot verification has closed down the check gates set up by the Department Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Department of Geology & Mining and Excise department" and not as published.

The DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie IAS has informed that additional land measuring 70.274 Acres only at Phriebagei, belonging to Kohima Villagers, Kohima district is required for acquisition/outright purchase for the establishment of Medical College at Kohima.

In pursuance of the Home Department notification to combat the alleged illegal collection of money from vehicles at check gates and other locations in the district, the Tuensang District Administration led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tuensang, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, Police personnel, and IPR officials inspected Eshou Gate (NAP Check Post) and Kuthor Road, Tuensang on 23rd May 2022.

Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Kumar Ramnikant IAS has issued the following directives for strict compliance by all concerned to combat the alleged illegal collection of money from the vehicles at check gates and other locations in the district, with immediate effect: 

As per the directive issued by the Government of Nagaland through the Home Department, Mon District Administration and Police conducted an inspection drive for the closure of all check gates except the interstate Police check gates.
