Nagaland Chief Secretary, J.Alam IAS has expressed shocked and saddened by the demise of late Toshi Wungtung Advisor, I&PR, SCERT and Village Guards on 1st July, 2021 at New Delhi where he was undergoing treatment.
Born on 20.08.1964 to K. Yamakam Yimchunger at Shamator town, Toshi had his education in Shillong and Delhi in premier institutions. He served in various student bodies including as President of the Naga Students' Union Delhi, Member Consultative/Advisory Committee Naga Students' Federation, Spokesperson and Advisor Yimchunger Tribal Council and as General Secretary Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation. Late Toshi Wungtung was elected as an MLA from 58 Shamator-Chessore AC in 2018 in fulfillment of his desire to serve his people.
The Chief Secretary stated that he personally knew Toshi for the last three decades from his student days. He was equally passionate about the socio-economic and educational upliftment of the people of Eastern Nagaland as well as for faster development of the entire State.
Unfortunately, he has left us too soon at a time when he had a promising political career ahead, the CS stated, adding that in his sad demise, Nagaland has lost an energetic and passionate soul and the Eastern districts of Nagaland and especially the Yimchunger tribe have lost a budding leader who could advocate their development issues at the state and the central level with equal felicity. Above all, the Chief Secretary stated that he has lost a personal friend and a well-wisher. He will always be remembered for the courage of conviction and the passion he had for the welfare of the people. His untimely demise has left a deep void that will be difficult to fill, he said and conveyed his sincere condolences to the bereaved family. ‘May the departed soul rest in eternal peace and May Almighty God give courage and fortitude to members of the family to bear this irreplaceable loss’ he further stated.
