On August 15 2023, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Nagaland symbolically planted a tree as a step towards combating substance abuse. This initiative aligned with the vision of achieving a drug-free India through the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), launched on August 15, 2020, in 272 identified districts across the nation. The NMBA aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse, particularly among the youth. The program focuses on educational institutions, campuses, schools, and communities to garner widespread involvement in creating a substance-free society.
