Nagaland Police organized a short programme on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) at Conference Hall PHQ along with the rest of the country. The programme was chaired by Uniel Kichu, IPS, SP (Cyber Security).
T. John Longkumer, IPS, DGP Nagaland in his speech stated that Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day was introduced by the Government of India to instill unity among the citizens of India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31s1 October, who is referred as the Iron man of India and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. It is in recognition of his historical contribution, the architect of National integration, and the combined aspiration of the people of India to forge the dreams of a vibrant, prosperous, and progressive nation that 31st October is observed as National Unity day. The police in India have contributed immensely towards various internal security challenges and are an integral part and instrumental in maintaining the unity of the country, and it is in recognition of the galvanizing role played by the police, the Government of India has declared the period falling between 21s1 to 31M October as "Police Flag Day" celebration. The commemorative period began with the observance of the Police Commemoration Day on 21s1 October and culminates on 3P1 with the observance of the National Unity day.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge was read by all present to reinvigorate the National Unity of India.
