Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Toiho Yeptho graced the Tsungremmung Festival of the Aos at Longsa village, Mokokchung as the chief guest on 2nd August 2024. The celebration was organized by Longsa village council under the patronage of the Tourism Department of Nagaland.

Chief Guest while addressing the festive gathering at Salang Lenden, Longsa said Festival is a time to evoke the blessing of the creator and it is also a time of brotherhood among communities for peace and prosperity. He also maintained that the tribalism mindset is the root cause of all the problems in our society, and urged all to fight against this disease that infects our society. Longsa village being a pioneering village in Nagaland, producing a host of prominent public leaders and bureaucrats, he hoped that the blessings would continue for generations to come.

Minister for RD and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir delivering a short speech on the occasion reminded the gathering that every day is a Thanksgiving Day for all the blessings and asserted that a thanksgiving nation lives in peace and prosperity. He further went on to say that let us not forget the love and blessings that we get from each other.

MLA, Benei M. Lamthiu in his short speech urged the people to live for good and said that “we never know what we have after it is gone from our hand”.

President Ongpangkong Mungdang, Lipokmeren Jamir also delivered a short speech.

Earlier, in the day, traditional pulling of vine (Arr Atsutsu) was held with the chief guest along with his colleagues, Metsubo Jamir, Minister RD & SIRD, Benei M Lamthiu MLA, Limaonen Chang MLA, Pongshi Phom MLA, Govt. officials and villagers.

Highlights of the day’s events includes invocation by Rev. K. Supong, Pastor Longsa Baptish Church, welcome address by Talichuba Tatar, Chairman Longsa Village council, significance of Tsungremmung was shared by Bendangwati Tatar while vote of thanks was proposed by Temjensosang Tatar Tourism Committee. Cultural display from Aluyimer ken (Farmer’s song) by Longsa Watsu Telen, Antipong Rara (Cock fight) by Lion Club, Traditional Sport by Eagle Club, Cultural dance by Sapotimi village, Amen ken (Folk song) Longdi yimsen and Tug-of-War between Shijen Zunga-Watemdong, Salu, Sensu & Aosungkum.
