The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Dimapur district was held on 21st July 2025 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Dimapur, under the chairmanship of Advisor for Labour, Employment & Skill Development and Excise, and Chairman of DPDB, Dimapur, Moatoshi Longkumer.

Addressing the members, Longkumer said it was an honour and privilege to attend the meeting and expressed concern over the recent flood havoc in the district, attributing it largely to rampant encroachment. He stressed that preventing such disasters is a collective responsibility. Referring to the committee formed in 2023 to look into encroachment issues, he said the committee would be revamped to include the chairpersons of Dimapur Municipal Council and East Dimapur Municipal Council, along with legal counsel. The new committee is expected to submit its report within two months.

Advisor for the Department of Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, also addressed the meeting, highlighting her recent visits to Russia and Japan. She shared that the Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, has laid the foundation for international cooperation, and it is the collective duty to nurture these initiatives. She also informed about a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the state government and Japan.

The meeting reviewed the minutes of the previous DP&DB meeting and approved the registration of new societies including Itiki Society, while the Kiye Foundation’s registration was recommended with the directive to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Medical Department.

Besides, the board also approved renaming of Saku Mission College to Livingstone Foundation College and changing the nomenclature of St. Xavier’s School, Purana Bazaar to Cedar Heights School. The board further approved the NOC for Makar Skills Development under the Directorate of Technical Education and gave clearance to LADP 2025–26 proposals for Dimapur I, II, and II A/C.

PowerPoint presentations were delivered by the Departments of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, showcasing ongoing and upcoming development projects in the district. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the DMC and Urban Development Department will make presentations in the next meeting.

The board also decided to keep all new Welfare Society registration proposals in abeyance until further notice.

The Deputy Commissioner urged all members to remain proactive and cooperative in ensuring the district’s progress.
