The 1st Day of the International Hornbill Festival Mon Edition concluded with the Hornbill Evening Gala with the theme" Roots to Revelry" witnessing a remarkable performances of various artists and participants from across the district at Konyak Heritage Complex, Mon on 8th December 2025.

Speaking as the honoured guest to the Hornbill Evening Gala, MLA, K Naiba Konyak, lauded the government of the day led by Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his initiative in extending the International Hornbill Festival to the Mon district. He also lauded the Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA) and the department of Art and Culture for their keen interest in organising the festival.

Recalling the term 'The Naked Nagas' used by the earlier anthropologist, the term was coined after the Konyaks, he said. He also encouraged the gatherings to preserve the rich heritage and culture of the Konyaks and showcast to others and the world. Calling upon the support of the public, the festival will promote the tourism industry and boost economic growth of the district.

Earlier during the indigenous games competition, Ngangwang of Jahjon Ward, Mon and Tahmao Ngenlih of Shamnyu Ward, Mon bagged the first prizes in Traditional Fire-making (male) and Rice-Pounding (Female) competition respectively.
