The 3-day annual games and sports meet 2026 for Government Middle School, Pungro Village was inaugurated on 9th April 2026 by Special guest, Lenpithong Kurian, Federal Council Member, Yimkhiung Tribal Council at Pungro village ground, Kiphire.
Kurian in his speech, spoke on the importance of games and sports not just as a sense of recreation but it's scope as a career opportunity.

 
Department of Social Welfare has informed that the State Programme Management Unit (SPMU), POSHAN Abhiyaan, will actively observe the 8th POSHAN Pakhwada with the central theme “Maximizing Brain Development in the First Six Years of Life.” across the state from 9th to 23rd April 2026, in alignment with the nationwide initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
