“A meeting of the High Powered Committee on COVID-19 was held today under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Nagaland with the Co-Chairman, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister along with Members, the Hon’ble Minister, Health & FW, Hon’ble Minister, Planning, LR & Parliamentary Affairs, Hon’ble Advisor, IT & ST and NRE and senior officials of the State Government.

The High Powered Committee (HPC) reviewed the existing lockdown measures in the State and also the modified plan submitted by the Health Department for declaring Containment Zones and the protocols to be followed. The HPC also deliberated the functioning of the Quarantine Centres and reviewed the existing provisions of the SOP for returnees. The proposal for imposition of total lockdown in Kohima Municipal areas for one week was also discussed. The HPC after taking into consideration all relevant facts decided that total lockdown as proposed may not be warranted for now in Kohima Municipal areas. The HPC directed DTF Kohima for strict adherence to all the protocols of the Containment Plans for all such areas where positive cases have come up and for doing rigorous contact tracing and listing, active surveillance and other necessary activities for preventing and containing the spread of COVID-19.

The HPC also reviewed the availability of essential medicines and medical equipments and other essential accessories with the Health Department, and further directed the Department to expedite the process for recruitment of additional doctors and nurses, as already approved by the Government, so that their services could be used for strengthening the health care system across the State without delay. 

As regard the total positive cases in the State, as on today, the number stands at 732. All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. Further, active surveillance and contact tracing is in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection.

Out of the 732 positive cases, the total active cases are 428, and 304 have recovered. As per the severity of symptoms, 424 active cases are asymptomatic and 4 active cases are mild.

Till date, a total of 15,431 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 14,662 samples have been received. Out of the 15,431 samples, 9,750 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and a total of 9,649 samples have been tested, out of which 521 samples have tested positive. Further at BSL 2 Lab at CIHSR, Dimapur, 1,174 samples have been processed and 73 samples have been tested positive.

In addition 9,005 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat. Results of 8,740 samples have been received. 249 cases have tested positive, and have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR,

A total of 3614 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine.”
