The Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports has informed that the Sport Ministry (MYAS) has decided to establish 1000 Khelo India Centres (KIC) over a period of 4 years at the District Level across the country in the following mentioned disciplines:- 1) Archery, 2) Athletics, 3) Boxing, 4) Badminton, 5) Cycling, 6) Fencing, 7) Hockey 8) Judo, 9) Rowing, 10) Shooting, 11) Swimming, 12) Table Tennis, 12) Weightlifting, 14) Wrestling. Football and traditional sports have also been included.

As per the Guidelines past champion athletes/organization promoting sports for atleast 5(five) years and conversion of existing SAI extension Centres into Khelo India Centres can be eligible persons to implement the programme by running the said centres supported by SAS.

Therefore the department has informed that interested past champions/organizations fulfilling the criteria with available infrastructures for running the said programme may apply through the respective Deputy Commissioners, which will be further verified by the respective DSG's & recommended by DC's for onward submission to the Department & SAI.
