The Directorate of School Education has informed that in pursuant to the Judgment dated 08/04/2024 passed by the Supreme Court of India in M.A. Diary No. 4303/2024 in Civil Appeal No. 5068 of 2023, all Primary Teachers appointed with professional qualification of B. Ed degree during the period 28/06/2018 to 10/08/2023 were directed to undergo the six months Bridge Course conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), admissions for which were closed on 19/07/2026.

Subsequent to the aforesaid Judgment, a number of teachers who consider themselves outside the ambit of the Supreme Court’s Judgment and the NCTE Recognition Order approached various High Courts, including the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur, by way of writ petitions. The High Court granted NIOS a further and final period of 15 days to open the portal.

In compliance with the directions of the High Court, the NIOS registration portal is opened strictly for the limited category of teachers covered by subsisting interim orders of the High Court (s), on the terms and conditions set out in the NIOS Notification F. No. 82-20/2025/NIOS/CBC/BRIDGE/Corr. dated 28/07/2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

1.      A teacher shall be eligible to seek provisional enrolment under this Notification only if all of the following conditions are cumulatively satisfied:

2.      The applicant is a party (petitioner) to a writ petition pending before a High Court in which an interim order permitting provisional enrolment in the Bridge Course has been passed and subsists as on the date of application.

3.      The applicant is not covered under, or does not fall within the ambit of, the judgment dated 08/04/2024 of the Supreme Court of India in M.A. Diary No. 4303/2024 in Civil Appeal No. 5068 of 2023 (Devesh Sharma Vs. Union of India & Ors.)

4.      The applicant is not covered under the NCTE Recognition Order to the extent it already governs regular enrolment.

5.      The interim order relied upon has not been stayed, modified, vacated, or superseded by any subsequent order of the same High Court, another High Court, or the Supreme Court.

The registration portal https://bridge.nios.ac.in  shall remain open from 30/07/2026 to 30/08/2026 for submission of online applications by such eligible teachers who hold a valid, subsisting order of a High Court permitting provisional enrolment. Eligible teachers are advised to refer NIOS Notification dated 28/07/2026 available at the aforementioned NIOS portal for further details.
