In the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetso, has issued the following traffic regulations for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur Town and NH-29 till Chumukedima with effect from 2nd September 2020.

  1. Odd number day: On every Monday Wednesday and Friday only vehicle with registration number ending with odd numbers (eg 1,3,5,7&9) will be allowed to ply.

Even number day: On every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (eg 2,4,6,8&0) will be allowed to ply.

  1. The category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted. Further Government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services involved in COVID-19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof. Two wheelers shall also be exempted from this traffic restriction.
  2. All heavy vehicles except those engaged in four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 09 00hrs to 15:00hrs.

CP also cautioned that violation of aforementioned order will be penalized U/S 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988. He therefore, appealed all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.
