The Transport Department has informed that in the interest of Public Service, the Government of Nagaland has notified that the Central Government vide Notification No.GSR.1361(E) dated 02/11/2017 under Rule 138A of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 has made mandatory the fitment of FASTag on all motor vehicles under category M and N sold on or after 1st December 2017. Motor Vehicle of “Category M”- a motor vehicle with at least four wheels used for carrying passengers & “Category N”- a motor vehicle with at least four wheels used for carrying goods which may also carry persons in addition to the goods.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has intimated that the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) has been completely integrated with the VAHAN portal, with the API going live on 14 May 2020.
All have been notified that FASTag details will be captured while registering new vehicles or issuing fitness certificates to transport vehicles plying under national permit henceforth.
In another notification, in pursuance of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways advisory dated 24.08.2020 and taking into consideration the grim situation continuing due to conditions for prevention of spread of COVID-19 across the country, the Transport Department has notified that:
- Validity of Fitness Certificate, Permit (all types), Driving License, Registration or any other concerned document(s) whose extension of validity could not or not likely be granted due to lock-down and which had expired since 1st of February, 2020 or would expire by 31st of December, 2020, the same will be treated as valid till 31st of December, 2020.
- Enforcement authorities are to treat such documents as valid till 31st of December, 2020 with no late fee/fine imposed during the said period.
