Tuensang District Planning and Development Board meeting was held at DC’s conference hall Tuensang on 6th October 2020. Chairman DPDB and MLA, Toyang Changkhong Chang chaired the meeting which was also attended by MLA Kejong Chang.

Chairman DPDB & MLA Toyang Changkhong Chang in his short briefing encouraged all the heads of offices that COVID-19 though a global pandemic with business at standstill, all should take up responsibilities and challenges. He also expressed concern on employee absentees concerned and advised to take a collective responsibility for the service of the district. He also asserted that the advices and suggestions of HODs will be very helpful in building the district.

MLA Kejong Chang said that Board meeting is like an assembly for the district which can pass the district concerns to the state assembly though which the district can be developed.

The meeting reviewed the previously passed agendas amongst which the transfer for files concerning the Chingmei range villages from the Noklak District to the Tuensang district was agreed to forward for the government’s approval.

The agenda relating to deplorable condition NH-202 and District Roads were also discussed. EE NH explained the failure in restoring the road due to weather condition in-spite of all the efforts. He also said that the NH 202 and bridges, one of the oldest roads in the state which were designed around 1960s and 70s, are in dilapidated condition which need a proper up-gradation as per the new technology. The chairman also advised both the executive Engineers of R&B and NH to convey the contractors of the respective works to comply by the Detail Project Report and the Specification of the Contract details. 

Agenda of recognition of Kuthur as Model Villages was also discussed and decided to forward to the Government for the approval.

The agenda on absenteeism of the Govt. Employees in the district was also discussed in the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant IAS expressed concern on the matter and urged all the officers and employees to be in station failing to comply may invite the stringent actions in the coming future.

Agenda on upgradation of Sangsangnyu Sub Centre to PHC and creation of Sub Centers at Maksha, Keshai, Haak, Longtoker, Kesowongto Villages and Sotokur HQ were also discussed and decided to forward to the government for the approval. Creation/establishment of Government Primary School at Kesowongto Village and Sotokur EAC HQ was also discussed and agreed to forward to the government for approval. Creation of Police Station at Sotokur EAC HQ, Construction of boundary walls of Sangsangnyu Police Station and Barrack for Security personnel at Sangsangnyu EAc HQ was also discussed and decided to forward for approval from government.

Construction of Community Water Tank and Water Supply connection at Sotokur EAC HQ were also discussed and considered to forward for government’s approval. 

Regarding absence of District Officer’s Quarter in the District the meeting decided to write to respective department for the necessary action. On the matter concerning to reopening of the District Hospital for the general public Chief Medical Officer Tuensang responded on the unfortunate incident of detection on higher surge of COVID positive cases in the recent times which has delayed reopening as per the plans.
