Several activities were taken up in Mon District in the week leading up to International Day of the Girl Child on 11th October 2020.
In the 1st week of October, result of the 'Online Photography Competition of Mother and Daughter in traditional attire was declared. The competition was organized as part of the Konyak post harvest 'La-Ong Mo' thus attracting dozens of entries.
On 2nd October 2020, as a mark of celebration of Gandhiji's 150th Birth Anniversary, a BBBP logo campaign was initiated wherein netizens were requested to set the BBBP logo as their official display picture/profile picture for a day. The initiative generated support swamping social media app whatsApp with the BBBP logo. Further, the official district website and BBBP Facebook Page floated the logo.
On 5th October 2020, a Live Webinar for Civil Service Aspirants was organized with two dynamic Officers of the district Vineet Kumar IAS and Khenpa NCS as resource persons.
11th October 2020 International Day of the Girl Child was observed throughout Mon District. At Mon headquarter, BBBP Champions Nginlei and Pongam (Mechanics) visited the District Hospital to felicitate parents of new born baby girls. The Mahila Shakti Kendra and Sakshi - OSC team accompanied them during the visit.
Further, the following initiatives were taken up in the sub divisions-
1. In Anjanyang subdivision, an online dancing competition was organized.
2. In Tizit subdivision, besides a painting competition for girls, an Awareness programme on Covid - 19 for adolescent girls was also organized.
3. In Naginimora Subdivision, girls of various high schools / higher secondary schools initiated a town cleaning drive.
4. In Aboi subdivision, two online competitions were launched: "Mother Daughter Traditional Wear Photo Competition" and "An Online Singing Competition for Girls".
