Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima Mohammed Ali Shihab. A, IAS has informed General Public that any offer of cash, liquor, gift items or free food to the electors during election process is bribe. Adding that both the persons, offering and accepting such bribes are liable for punishment with imprisonment up to one year and fine.

He further informed that Flying Squads and Surveillance Teams have been formed to keep watch over such activities and to check movement of items meant for inducement of electors, during election process 

The DC has appealed that any member of public may inform such incidents of bribe to the Control Room No. 0370- 2290226 or toll free District Contact Centre 0370-2291285.
