In pursuance of the GON Home Department Notification Vide NO. GAB-I/COM/GEN-4/2020,Date Kohima the 10th November, 2020 and in view of the increase in the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state, the State Government have directed to prohibit the sale and use of fire crackers during Diwali and other festivals from 10th November, 2020 to 31st January, 2021 since bursting of fire crackers releases harmful chemicals which have server impact on the respiratory health of vulnerable groups and such pollutants further may prove hazardous for recovered as well as active Covid-19 patients.

Therefore, in exercise of power conferred under Section 34 (h) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Deputy Commissioner Longleng has directed that there shall be a complete ban on sale and use of fire crackers in Longleng district from 10th November, 2020 to 31st January 2021.

Any person found in violating theorder shall be punishable under relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other relevant sections of law.
