Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha in exercise of the power conferred under Section 22(2) (h) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, hereby directs that there shall be a complete ban on sale and use of fire crackers in Wokha district from 12th November 2020 till 31st January 2021. In the interest of public health safety bans bursting of crackers as it releases harmful chemicals which have serve impact on the respiratory health of vulnerable groups and such pollutants further may prove hazardous for recovered as well as active COVID-19 patients.

And whereas, Diwali and other festivals are approaching and people usually burn fire crackers during such occasions, therefore, the Deputy Commissioner has immediately banned sale and use of fire crackers.

Any person found violating the order shall be punished under relevant provisions of the Disaster management Act 2005 and other relevant laws.
