In compliance with the Home Department notification no.GAB/2020 dated Kohima the 10th November 2020 and in review of the increase in number of the Covid-19 positive cases in the state and with winter season approaching during which the elderly, children, persons with co-morbidities and others develop respiratory problems, the DC Peren has directed that there shall be a complete ban on sale and use of fire crackers in the district from 10th November 2020 to 31st January 2021.

The order stated that Diwali and others festivals are approaching during which the people usually burn crackers, and bursting of fire crackers releases harmful chemicals which have severe impact on the respiratory health of vulnerable groups and such pollutants further may approve hazardous for recovered as well as active covid-19 patient.

Any person found violating this order shall be punished under relevant provision of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and other relevant laws.
