Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha, stated in an order that some individuals and groups are wilfully obstructing the construction works of National Highway at Km 71.00 to Km 101.00 within the demarcated Right of Way (RoW) for which compensation has already been paid and such acts are deemed to be illegal and are being viewed seriously.
Further, it has also been reported that some Village Council Members and Government Servants are also actively involving themselves in such illegal acts causing hindrances to the development works of the Government and such perpetrators if found guilty will be dealt as per the relevant provisions of the Nagaland Government Conduct Rules 1968 and Nagaland Village Tribal Council Act 1978.
The DC added that the construction of National Highway is a time bound exercise which must be undertaken and completed within the time frame and such projects of NH should not be delayed unnecessarily in the larger interest of the public.
Now therefore, if such reports of illegal obstruction within the RoW where compensation has already been paid are ascertained, appropriate actions will be initiated and those found guilty will be dealt with as per relevant provisions of the Law.
