As part of the ‘SDG One Stop Destination’ of the Planning & Coordination Department at Hornbill Festival 2022, the department hosted the painting competition on the theme Nagaland for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 3rd December 2022. The objective of this completion was to visualize SDGs from the lens of Naga culture and heritage. The winners were: first- Chorovelu Ringa, second- Vijendra Singh, and third- Mhonbeni Ngullie. The winners were awarded prizes by Nayantara Sasikumar, OSD (Planning) & SDG Nodal Official. She said ‘We are delighted to see a good number of enthusiastic participants who creatively visualized the SDGs from their perspective of Naga culture and heritage. We are happy to see the awareness level among the general public in Nagaland’.

The department has set up the ‘SDG One Stop Destination’ to disseminate the SDGs innovatively during the Hornbill Festival from December 1-10, 2022 at Kisama Heritage Village, near the Food Park. This dedicated SDGs destination has an SDG information desk and activities aligning to SDGs such as quizzes, games, short film screenings, pledges, and much more on all days during the festival.

The theme of all the activities is around the SDGs– the 17 ambitious global goals associated with 169 targets to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all of us by 2030. SDGs were agreed upon by all member countries of the United Nations (including India) in 2015, which are to be achieved by 2030. The Government of Nagaland is also working towards localizing and integrating the SDGs. This is yet another effort towards creating more awareness and public participation in the SDGs-oriented action as well as aligning all activities to the SDGs during the Festival period.
