            Asserting that Phoms are peace loving people, Minister for Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom appealed to the people of his district to continue to work together with unity and oneness for all-round development of the district. He was addressing at the foundation stone laying ceremony of District Hospital Longleng on 10th March 2021 at new hospital site and added that the unique celebration of “Phom Day” on 6th June annually and another special occasion “Phoms towards 21st Century “ were the inspiring spirit to uphold and harness peace.

            On the occasion, the Health Minister appealed to the people to avail the Covid-19 vaccine to control and contain the spread of the virus. He also appealed to the H&FW officials for early completion of the DPR, pursue post creation of employees and other follow-up action for early functioning of the hospital with full facilities. 

            Pangnyu expressed his gratitude to the District Task Force, Frontline Workers, Government officers, the civil societies, PBCA and the Church for their contribution and making the hospital as one of the most successful district hospital with CHC status during the pandemic and added that Longleng was the lone hospital in the state with CHC status in the state during the Covid-19 crisis. 

            DC, Longleng, M. Shayung Phom pointed out that the Covid-19 pandemic was a blessing in disguise for Longleng district as lots of unexpected development took place for upliftment of the hospital during the period. He narrated how both Covid Hospital and District Hospital were functioning with the available resources and active contribution from various sources as health care facilities became priority to combat the virus. 

            Director, Health, H&FW Dr. Neikhrielie Khimiao in his speech asserted that the Department alone cannot develop the hospital without the active support and cooperation of the people and called upon everyone to extend their hand to uplift the hospital.

            Briefing on the overview of the project Er. Moanaro, Executive Engineer, Medical Engineering Division, Kohima informed that it will be a 50 bedded hospital with an estimated cost of Rs 12 Crore. She said that DPR is underway and would be completed soon however site development will go on side by side for speedy completion of the construction.

            Others who spoke included President PPC, President Phomla Hoichem, President Longleng Town ward, Chairman Orangkong Village. Welcome address was proposed by Medical Superintendent, DHL Dr. Lhouvizotuo Belho. The Program was chaired by Dr. Ademla Tinu, SMO, DHL while vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Obangjungla, CMO, Longleng.

            The Medical Minister also inaugurated the upgradation of Yachem PHC to Community Health Centre.  At Yachem welcome address and Health Status was proposed by CMO Longleng, Dr. Obangjungla followed by short speeches by EAC Yachem, Pichano Kikon; Director, Health, H&FW Dr. Neikhrielie Khimiao; Head Barrick Yaongyimchen. Longkang; Chairman Alayung Village, Manshei; Chairman Sanglu Village, Mokba; 2nd Barrick Yachem Longnyu and President PPC, Shami Angh. The program was chaired by MO Yachem, Dr. James.
