A photo exhibition with the theme ‘Celebrating 75 Years of India’s Independence,’ organized by the Field Outreach Bureau, Kohima, Bureau of Outreach & Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India was inaugurated by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio at Nagaland Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on 12th March 2021.

            The photo exhibition is curated to depict through the medium of photos India’s freedom struggle. It consists of old and rare photographs of well-known and less known freedom fighters of the country, Gandhi’s advent into the freedom struggle, the historic march from Sabarmati to Dandi to break the British Salt Law which became a precursor to the countrywide mass movement against the British Rule and intensified the freedom movement. Photos of freedom fighters like Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose and important events connected in their fight for India’s Independence were also exhibited.

            The exhibited photos were provided by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. CM, Rio viewed the photo collections and termed the collections as impressive, and suggested it to be compiled and published as exhibited.

            Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau, Kohima, K. Soni Kumar Singh informed that the photos will be exhibited for five days at Kohima to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence Day.
